High-Purity Bulk Chemical Distribution Systems

Teflon™ Fluoropolymers Protect Purity in Bulk Chemical Distribution

Used in high-purity manufacturing, bulk chemical distribution (BCD) delivers critical processing chemicals from large bulk containers to use points. BCD components like storage vessels and piping use Teflon™ resins to maintain purity throughout the system.

Tubes and Piping

The Teflon™ perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) resins, PFA HP and HP Plus, prevent the contamination of ultrapure fluids in pipes and tubing systems throughout the fabrication facility. Manufacturers can extrude Teflon™ PFA resins to form unsupported tubing or line metal piping systems joined via welding or with flare-type connections. Dual containment constructions also provide added protection against leaks and contamination.

Tanks and Containers

Both Teflon™ PFA HP/HP Plus and Teflon™ polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) resins can line or form tanks and containers that store and dispense ultrapure and aggressive process fluids. From lab-scale bottles to large tanks, Teflon™ fluoropolymers enable the safe storage and transport of hazardous, high-purity chemicals.

Fluid Handling Components

BCD systems use fittings made from or lined with high-purity Teflon™ PFA and PTFE resins to ensure the highest integrity of critical connections. Chemours resins provide the required protection against contamination for pumps, pressure regulators, flow meters, and valves.

Filters

Teflon™ PTFE fluoropolymers are essential in high-purity filtration membranes, which are critical for removing particulate contamination from process fluids. Teflon™ PFA HP and HP Plus resins also can be processed and used as filter housings and fittings.

Sensors

Capacitive sensors protected by high-purity Teflon™ PFA resins monitor the fluid levels of harsh and reactive chemicals in BCD system tanks. Teflon™ fluoropolymers insulate electrical components and cabling and provide additional protection against corrosion and contamination.
