"Teflon" is not PFOA
The Teflon™ brand is not PFOA. Teflon™ is a brand, owned by Chemours, not a product or material. This brand is used to market a range of products and should never be used as a generic term for a particular substance or a generic name for nonstick cookware coatings.
Teflon™ nonstick coatings are NOT made with PFOA or C8
Teflon™ nonstick coatings are made without PFOA (and without PFOS and C8) and Chemours has never made or used PFOS or C8.
PFOA was a manufacturing process aid
In 2006, as part of a commitment to phase out of the use of PFOA in the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, eight major global manufacturers in the U.S., Europe and Japan agreed to participate in the US EPA’s 2010/2015 voluntary PFOA Stewardship Program. Processing aids have the function of assisting in the manufacture of fluoropolymers and are not used as ingredients in the final consumer product. Chemours has never made or used PFOA (C8).
