Achieving Certified Gold Status

Our commitment to responsible manufacturing includes nurturing the natural habitats surrounding our production facilities. Our Teflon™ manufacturing site is Gold Certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) for ~100 acres supporting a variety of wildlife habitats, flora, and fauna. The program includes 2.72 miles of networked nature trails, an outdoor classroom, and learning programs geared to all ages. Gold certification is the highest achievable certification from WHC, signifying leadership among more than 600 WHC Conservation Certification programs.

Proven to Reduce Environmental Impact

Advanced fluoropolymer binders made with Teflon™ PTFE are vital for eliminating hazardous solvents, reducing manufacturing footprint, and reducing energy consumption and CO2 emissions. This unlocks the path for more cost-effective and energy-efficient batteries for vehicles. These cutting-edge binders help enable the adoption and scalability of dry electrode coating technology to advance the capabilities of lithium-ion batteries (LiBs) and the electric vehicle industry.

In addition, Teflon EcoElite™ finish is the first renewably sourced, plant-based, non-fluorinated durable water repellent treatment for fabrics and textiles. Because many of its raw materials can be regrown and replaced over time, its production leaves a smaller environmental footprint.

The opening of the Chemours Battery Innovation Center (CBIC), located within the Chemours Discovery Hub in Newark, Delaware, exemplifies Chemours’ commitment. A multi-million dollar investment, the CBIC supports the testing and scaling of dry electrode coating, an electrode manufacturing process which eliminates the use of hazardous solvents such as N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), to enable more sustainable, cost-effective, energy-efficient, and high-performing batteries for hybrid and electric vehicles.
